Andrew G. Johnson

Andrew G. Johnson was a young Swedish man who received the baptism at Azusa. According to witnesses he spoke in seven languages, including Arabic. He joined a team of missionaries that left 312 Azusa Street for an outreach to Oakland (September 1906, Apostolic Faith).

Johnson intended to travel with the group to Jerusalem, but returned to Sweden instead, taking the Pentecostal message to his homeland. In Sweden, his name was Axel G. Jonsson. Pentecostal revival first fell in Skovde. During the revival, on or around Christmas night 1906, fire was seen over the Baptist church where the services were conducted.

Parts of this report were submitted by Douglas Parker. More information on Johnson is coming soon.
