James M. Taylor

Taylor was a leader in the Wesleyan Holiness movement and apparently a member of the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene. He was the editor of Pacific Pentecost in Fullerton, California in 1906. Shortly thereafter, he was a pioneer missionary to Barbados. Taylor served as the president of Taylor University from 1921-1922.

Taylor's Azusa Street testimony was published in The Pentecostal Herald on October 3, 1906.

Taylor gave glowing reports of the meeting. He said, ". . . we are convinced it is of God." Later The Pentecostal Messenger and the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene stood in staunch opostion to the revival and the Pentecostal outpouring. Taylor, himself published an anti-Pentecostal book, The Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Taylors complete eye-witness account will be published in a future volume, The Chosen Vessels.
